2020 Ford F-150 Transmission Rebuild Bowling Green, KY

This 2020 Ford F-150 came into our shop here in Bowling Green, Kentucky with two very common issues for the 10R80 transmission. The first was torque converter shutter and the second was a failure in the CDF drum. These symptoms tend to sneak up over time and often go unnoticed until the shifting becomes harsh or inconsistent.

We confirmed the customer’s complaints during our initial road test and by reviewing live transmission data. It was clear that the torque converter clutch was slipping under load and the gear transitions were beginning to flare. From experience, we knew exactly what we were looking at.

Once we pulled the transmission and opened it up, we found exactly what we expected. The CDF drum had worn to the point of failure and the torque converter clutch was breaking down. That meant metal had already started to circulate through the unit and cause damage to other components. At this point, a full transmission rebuild was the only proper fix.
