2011 Chevy Suburban Transmission Rebuild Scottsville, KY
May 28, 2025

This 2011 Chevy Suburban came to us from Scottsville, Kentucky after the owner started having a serious issue. The transmission would pull fine when cold, but once it got up to temperature, it would quit pulling altogether in every gear. That is a clear sign of internal failure, and based on what we see in these 6L80 units, we had a good idea of what we would find inside.
Once we pulled the transmission and opened it up, we saw exactly what we expected. There was metal and debris throughout the entire unit. When that kind of contamination is present, the only proper solution is a complete transmission rebuild. Anything less would just delay the problem, not fix it.
Here is what went into this build:
✅ Machined the bell housing for proper clearance and sealing
✅ Replaced the pressure regulator valve to restore proper line pressure
✅ Installed a shift kit to clean up gear transitions and reduce long-term wear
✅ Rebuilt the transmission with all new clutches, gaskets, and seals
✅ Repaired the TCM to ensure full functionality
✅ Performed a full hot flush of the cooler and lines to remove all remaining metal
✅ Completed a custom tune to improve shift quality and help extend the life of the transmission
✅ Heavy duty billet lid torque converter for longevity
The cooler flush is especially important on these jobs. If you leave any metal behind in the lines or cooler, it will just cycle right back into the fresh build and start the process all over again. That is why we take the time to do it right.
Now this Suburban is back on the road and shifting exactly the way it should.
